#R1# Fonseca fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Broxton throws a right and a left that Fonseca avoids nicely. We've been informed that Broxton has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Fonseca shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Broxton pinned against the cage. Broxton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. #CL2# Broxton clinches up with Fonseca and pushes him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#TD2# Broxton pulls Fonseca into guard.
Fonseca postures up in Broxton's guard and throws a big left but Broxton blocks it. Broxton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fonseca. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Fonseca thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Fonseca takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Fonseca throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Fonseca postures up and lands a big shot to Broxton's brow. Fonseca is breathing heavily. Broxton wants to sweep but no luck. Broxton trying to keep a closed guard but Fonseca is proving a slippery customer.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Broxton tries to roll over but Fonseca keeps him under control. Fonseca not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
