The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Tao leaves Prendergast with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Tao is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Prendergast shoots for a double leg takedown but Tao sprawls well. He's pushed Prendergast's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Prendergast wants it to stay on the feet. Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Womack shoots for a double leg takedown but Prendergast sprawls well. Prendergast bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Karelin's head backwards. Karelin misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Prendergast to counter with a crisp jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Karelin misses with a right hand and Prendergast counters with a lovely straight right hand! Prendergast lands a jab to the nose.#T1# Karelin swings widly with a right hand

#R1# Muir shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Prendergast as he jumps to the side. Prendergast looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.#TD# Muir shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Prendergast napping and manages to drive through into side control! Prendergast bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!#TD2# Prendergast throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Muir was covering up waiting for the punch and Prendergast finishes the takedown easily into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Prendergast lands a couple of elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Muir trying to keep a closed guard but Prendergast is proving a slippery customer.
