This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Jose Altuve! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 1 losses; Cody Harris! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Harris fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Altuve shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Harris as he avoids it easily. Harris feints the counter takedown.#TD2# Altuve tries to sprawl but Harris drives through with a takedown into half guard. #R1# Jab, jab by Diaz - just one landing. We've been hearing reports that Altuve has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Diaz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Altuve could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Diaz drops Altuve with a big left hand! Altuve is injured, injured bad! Diaz jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dick Diaz! After the fight, Dick Diaz was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |

Gallahad was covering up waiting for the punch and Altuve finishes the takedown easily into guard. #SUB# Gallahad working for a triangle but Altuve defends it easily.

The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Altuve, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Wells is trying to get back to full guard. Altuve passes the guard and advances to mount! Wells tries to hold on but Altuve pushes him away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wells is working to get back to half guard.

Wells is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Wells flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Altuve anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Wells and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Altuve slips an arm under Wells chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Altuve has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Altuve is squeezing on Wells like an anaconda would it's prey. Wells fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Quarter is fighting it off but Altuve persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Quarter's guard against the cage. Quarter wants to sweep here but Altuve controlling him for the moment. Altuve passes Quarter's left leg - he's now in half guard. #R1# Poobing looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Poobing looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Poobing tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Altuve tried to counter with a leg kick but Poobing avoided it. Poobing is looking to clinch but Altuve is avoiding it.
Altuve tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Poobing manages to circle out of the way. Poobing tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Altuve swivels and escapes. Poobing tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Altuve defends well and Poobing ends up having to push Altuve into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Jose Altuve has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Skeepy Poobing. Poobing tries a head kick but it misses.
