#R1# Stewart stuffs the takedown. Stewart stuffs the takedown attempt from Pardo. Pardo gets slowly back to his feet. Stewart dives in for a single leg takedown but Pardo sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Pardo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Pardo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pardo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Pardo lands a jab to the nose. Pardo slaps away a takedown attempt from Stewart, before circling back to the center of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pardo shoots for a takedown but Stewart saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Pardo throws a head kick that misses. Stewart shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pardo as he avoids it easily. #T1# Stewart shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pardo as he jumps to the side. Stewart tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pardo defends well and Stewart ends up having to push Pardo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Pardo throws a front kick that sends Stewart stumbling back into the cage. Pardo fails with a takedown attempt. Stewart feints the counter takedown. Stewart shoots in for a double leg but Pardo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Pardo throws a series of strikes that have Stewart backpedaling.
Pardo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stewart but Stewart pushes him off and we're back to square one. Stewart shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pardo as he jumps to the side. #T2# Stewart stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stewart wants it to stay on the feet. Stewart shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pardo sprawls well. Pardo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stewart gets slowly back to his feet. Stewart fails with the takedown. Pardo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.#CL# Pardo moves into range and clinches up with Stewart. Stewart has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pardo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.#BC# Pardo breaks the clinch.
No luck for Stewart with that takedown attempt. #T3##TD2# Stewart changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pardo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Stewart has knee on belly and moves into mount. #SUB2# Stewart working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Stewart sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Stewart can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pardo is looking to escape. Stewart is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.#T4# Pardo tries to hold on but Stewart postures up. Stewart with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Stewart trying to control but he's not successful this time. Pardo is trying to stand.#SUB2# Stewart goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pardo turns into him and now he's in Stewart's guard.
Stewart working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Pardo. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Pardo dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.#R2##TD# Pardo feints and as Stewart raises his hands in defense, Pardo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.#SUB2# Stewart is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Pardo has his hands clasped together but Stewart extends and breaks Pardo's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Stewart.
