No, Popizicki escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Popizicki! Popizicki advances to mount. Reine is wriggling around trying to escape.
Popizicki tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Reine is working to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Popizicki controlling from mount. Popizicki is landing with some decent strikes but Reine is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Reine can't escape the position.
Popizicki raining down shots from the mount! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Popizicki connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Reine sprawls well initially but Snake persists and gets the takedown into half guard. #SUB2# Snake is looking for a kimura but Reine is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Snake to get the leverage. Reine gets back to full guard.

Snake must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.#SUB# Reine isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Snake stacks Reine on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Snake! The ground and pound from Snake seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Reine gets back to half guard. Snake throwing shots but Reine is blocking nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reine avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Snake. Snake wants to free his trapped foot but Reine is holding on for dear life with his legs. #T1# Snake keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
