Still in half guard, Eko seems content to control. Rutten is looking to control Eko's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rutten avoid being mounted? Rutten is looking for a sweep. Eko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rutten slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.#SUB2# Rutten is looking for a triangle but Eko pushes his legs off easily.
Eko lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Eko controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Rutten working a defensive guard here.

#SUB# Messier escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rutten gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rutten lands a couple of decent looking shots. Rutten is stalling in the full guard. Messier can't keep his opponent in guard - Rutten advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T1# Still in half guard, Rutten seems content to control.#SU2# Rutten stands up out of the half guard. That was a close round but I would say that Anton Messier will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Bas Rutten's cut. Rutten is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
