#R1##CL# Hoshimiya instigates a clinch. #TD# Hoshimiya jumps into guard, dragging Volshinik to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Hoshimiya has his hands on Volshinik's head, controlling the position. Hoshimiya looking to hit a scissor sweep but Volshinik is one step ahead there. Volshinik trying to control but Hoshimiya is working from the bottom. Volshinik tries to free his leg and advance position but Hoshimiya is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB# Hoshimiya is looking for a triangle but Volshinik pushes his legs off easily.
Volshinik with a flurry of punches that miss. #T1# Hoshimiya is pulling down on Volshinik's head. It's preventing any offense from Volshinik, at least for the moment. Volshinik trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hoshimiya is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.#REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Volshinik throws a head kick that half lands.
Hoshimiya shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Volshinik sprawls well. Volshinik wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hoshimiya gets slowly back to his feet.#TD# Hoshimiya scores with a takedown into Volshinik's guard.#T2# Hoshimiya sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Volshinik's guard. Hoshimiya seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Volshinik tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Volshinik is trying to control but can't.
Hoshimiya prevents Volshinik from improving his position.#T3# Volshinik wants to get back to full guard but Hoshimiya has mounted him! Volshinik wants to hold on but Hoshimiya pushes him away. Volshinik tries to reverse the position but Hoshimiya maintains control. Hoshimiya is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Volshinik can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Volshinik slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Volshinik wants to improve his position but Hoshimiya is controlling well.
#SUB# Hoshimiya wants to work for an arm triangle but Volshinik is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
#T4# Volshinik is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hoshimiya lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Volshinik is trying to control but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!#SUB# Hoshimiya is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Volshinik is just riding it out for now. Hoshimiya eventually gives up the hold. #SUB2# Volshinik looking for submissions off his back. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Hintasu Hoshimiya dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!#R2# Volshinik is looking to clinch. #TD2# Volshinik throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hoshimiya was covering up waiting for the punch and Volshinik finishes the takedown easily into guard. Hoshimiya is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Volshinik dives into side control.
#REVR##SUB2# Volshinik wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hoshimiya, who protects the arm well. Volshinik wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hoshimiya keeps working. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hoshimiya tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.#T1# Volshinik tries to control but Hoshimiya wriggling away. Hoshimiya holds on for dear life. Hoshimiya is desperately trying to improve his position but Volshinik has a good base and remains in mount. Hoshimiya on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hoshimiya tries to get out of the position.#T2# The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Volshinik wants to control the pace but Hoshimiya is squirming around nicely. Volshinik postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hoshimiya looks a forlorn figure.
Hoshimiya is wriggling around trying to escape.
Volshinik controlling from mount. Hintasu Hoshimiya overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Volshinik trying to control but Hoshimiya is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#T3# Volshinik tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Volshinik landing strikes from the mount. Volshinik looking to finish Hoshimiya with some ground and pound. This is bad for Hoshimiya! Volshinik cracks Hoshimiya with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hoshimiya is looking to improve his position but Volshinik isn't that keen on the idea. The referee warns Hoshimiya that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Volshinik prevents Hoshimiya from getting the reversal.#T4# Volshinik lands a nice shot to the head. Volshinik looking to control but Hoshimiya is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Hoshimiya is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hoshimiya is working to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Volshinik trying to control but he's not successful this time. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Yuri Volshinik showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!#R3# Volshinik shoots for a double leg takedown but Hoshimiya sprawls well. He's pushed Volshinik's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Volshinik connects with a crisp jab. Hoshimiya shoots in for a takedown but Volshinik shows good takedown defense. #TD# Hoshimiya scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Volshinik is trying to get back to half guard. Hoshimiya scores with a couple of short elbows. Volshinik is trying to buck Hoshimiya off. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hoshimiya wants to stand but Volshinik is controlling his arm. Hoshimiya looks up at the clock and then as Volshinik takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hoshimiya smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
#T1# Hoshimiya tries to advance to mount but can't. Volshinik is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hoshimiya off and has taken his back! Hoshimiya grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. Volshinik has good solid back control here. Volshinik looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Hoshimiya is holding onto Volshinik's left hand, preventing any choke attempts.#SUB2# Volshinik is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Hoshimiya is defending well though. Volshinik let's go of the attempt for now.#T2# Hoshimiya trying to control the hands but Volshinik won't let him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Volshinik throwing damaging strikes from the back! Hoshimiya could be in trouble here!

#SUB2# Hoshimiya fending off the submission attempt from Volshinik. Volshinik tries to keep control of the position but Hoshimiya is staying busy.#T3# You can see the frustration on Hoshimiya's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
