Hoshimiya jumps into guard, dragging Volshinik to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hoshimiya has his hands on Volshinik's head, controlling the position.
Hoshimiya looking to hit a scissor sweep but Volshinik is one step ahead there.
Volshinik trying to control but Hoshimiya is working from the bottom.
Volshinik tries to free his leg and advance position but Hoshimiya is retaining full guard.

Hoshimiya is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Volshinik is just riding it out for now. Hoshimiya eventually gives up the hold. #SUB2#

Volshinik throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hoshimiya was covering up waiting for the punch and Volshinik finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hoshimiya is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Volshinik dives into side control.

Volshinik wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hoshimiya, who protects the arm well.
Volshinik wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hoshimiya keeps working.

Volshinik wants to control the pace but Hoshimiya is squirming around nicely.
Volshinik postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hoshimiya looks a forlorn figure.

Hintasu Hoshimiya overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Volshinik cracks Hoshimiya with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hoshimiya is looking to improve his position but Volshinik isn't that keen on the idea.
The referee warns Hoshimiya that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Yuri Volshinik showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
