#R1# Shoji tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Taylor swivels and escapes. No luck with that takedown attempt from Shoji. #TD2# Shoji shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Taylor is trying to get back to full guard.#SUB2# Shoji wants to work for an arm triangle but Taylor is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Shoji winds up and cracks Taylor with a swinging punch to the side of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shoji takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Shoji not landing any meaningful shots this time. Shoji tries to close the distance and clinch but De Fuentino swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. #CL# Shoji clinches. Shoji tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Shoji will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning De Fuentino up against the ropes. De Fuentino is trying to force a seperation but Shoji has the dominant position. Shoji has De Fuentino pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. De Fuentino manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. De Fuentino is trying to break the clinch but Shoji has him pressed against the ropes. #R1# Shoji looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nolen is fending him off so far but Shoji persists. Nope, Nolen circles away and we're back to standing. Nolen wants to counter the offense by Shoji and move into the clinch position. Shoji shoots in for a takedown but Nolen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Shoji closes the distance and clinches up with Nolen, looking for a takedown. Shoji pushes Nolen against the cage but Nolen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akira Shoji. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nolen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nolen tries a head kick but it misses.

Shoji steps back and let's Nolen get back to his feet. Shoji leaves Nolen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nolen lands a two punch combo.

Nice work. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fundinul accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Fundinul trying to control but Shoji is working from the bottom. Fundinul has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Shoji has his hands on Fundinul's head, controlling the position. Fundinul trying to control the position from guard on top but Shoji is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
