The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hagler manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hagler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Klarenet. Hagler has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Taylor is landing a low percentage of strikes. A jab from Hagler misses. Hagler misses with a looping right. Taylor just misses with a punch to the body.

and Alvarez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Alvarez dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Alvarez takes a swing at Hagler's ribcage but misses. Hagler throws out a loose jab but Alvarez uses good head movement to avoid it. Alvarez seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Alvarez gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hagler. Alvarez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hagler missing with a left hand there. Alvarez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Hagler looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Hagler ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Alvarez slips a jab from Hagler. Turpin's coach down at Ocean Ripples was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Turpin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Turpin lands the left hand. Hagler definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Turpin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Turpin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Hagler misses with an uppercut

The cornerman is going to be in Garcia's bad books for that mishap!
