#R1# Schmidt throws an overhand right that lands on Will's shoulder, as Will tries to avoid the shot. Will throws a big counter combination but Schmidt scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Schmidt fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Will avoids it really well and circles away. Schmidt shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Will loads up on a big right hand but Schmidt slips the punch. Will lands a slapping body shot.
Will swings for the body but Schmidt moves out of range.
It seemed like Schmidt was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Will's jab looks to have found its range, popping Schmidt under the eye. Schmidt takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

James Darwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Darwin lands with a cross. Darwin connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Schmidt momentarily.
Darwin scores with a jab to the body.#TD# Darwin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Schmidt to the ground. Darwin is now in Schmidt's guard. Darwin trying to control but Schmidt is working from the bottom. Darwin sitting in guard, not really doing much. #R1# Gray misses with a straight left. Gray seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Gray misses with a body shot.
Schmidt doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Gray leaves Schmidt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nice takedown defense from Gray. No joy for Schmidt on that attempt. Gray scores with a nice right hand.
#CUT#It looks like Xavier Schmidt has been cut. Gray loads up on a big right hand but Schmidt slips the punch. Gray throws a hook to the side of Schmidt's head but Schmidt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Schmidt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gray's waist but Gray gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Schmidt off to one side. Tavish Gray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now.
