Jones walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.#CL2# Long pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch. Long stalling.
Jones lands a damaging elbow. Jones lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Long lands a good knee to the midsection. Jones won't want to take too many of those. #R1# Melps ducks under a wild hook from Long. Long stuffs the takedown. Melps closes the distance and clinches up with Long, looking for a takedown. Melps pushes Long against the cage but Long circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Melps moves in looking to clinch but Long pushes him off. Melps looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Long is fending him off so far but Melps persists. Nope, Long circles away and we're back to standing. Richard Long has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phichael Melps. Long turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Long defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Melps. Long swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Nice takedown defense from Long. No joy for Melps on that attempt. Melps shoots and misses and Long counters with a low kick, right behind Melps 's knee. Long lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Long, as that shot connected.

We've been told by Long's head coaches at Final Mile that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Let's see if he can advance position further. Long wants to control but Madden is keeping busy.

Astasius throws a body punch but Long moves out of range. Long throws a quick counter kick to the body but Astasius avoids it. Long scores with a nice body kick.

Miele shoots and misses and Long makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Miele definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Long connects with a leg kick. Long scores with a crisp jab that stopped Miele in his tracks. Miele swats away the attempt to clinch by Long. Miele was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Long feints and then cracks Miele's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Miele down. Long connects with a high kick. Miele looks to land a combination but Long avoids it well. Long appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Long lands a really nice looking cross but Miele seems unphased.
