He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hernandez! A lull in the action here. Hernandez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Costa's best efforts. Hernandez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Costa stalling. Hernandez is looking to improve his position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice strikes from Costa there. The judges will like that one. Costa is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Hernandez misses with a takedown letting Costa counter with a right hand. Kyoto Costa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Geraldo Hernandez. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Costa stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.#ROC#Hernandez is rocked! Nice body punch from Costa. #R1# Blackwater feints a jab promting Costa to slip. Blackwater then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Costa slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Blackwater shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Costa defends it nicely. Blackwater swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Costa dips to his left and cracks Blackwater with an uppercut! Blackwater throws the kick towards the body but Costa avoids it. Nice body punch from Costa. Blackwater tries to move into range but Costa moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Blackwater jabbing away but nothing is landing. Costa connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Blackwater takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Blackwater misses with a wild combination.
Costa digs a good body shot into Blackwater's ribs. A bone on bone clash there as Blackwater blocks the leg kick.
Blackwater throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Costa's waist but Costa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Blackwater off to one side. Blackwater rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Costa moves out of range and avoids them all easily. We've been told by Blackwater's head coaches at California Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Blackwater drops his hands momentarily and Costa takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Some wild striking there from Blackwater.

Costa seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Blackwater lands a couple of elbows. Costa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Costa keeping full guard, as Blackwater tries to pass. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Blackwater hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

#R1# Posta on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. A looping hook to the body misses from Costa. Posta does a little dance to reset his feet. Posta throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Posta walks into a left hand. Posta moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Costa. Costa takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Posta takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Posta misses with a hook. Costa ducked under it nicely. Posta takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Posta tries to clinch up but Costa circles away and keeps his distance. Costa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Pitt should have avoided that one. Costa digs a good body shot into Pitt's ribs. Pitt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. A combination from Pitt does no damage. Pitt throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Costa misses the jab. Costa fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pitt looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Pitt swinging wildly here.
