#R1# Anhor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cartier's waist but Cartier gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Anhor off to one side. Cartier half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Anhor is defended easily by Cartier.#TD# Cartier closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Anhor quickly recovers to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cartier sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Anhor defending well though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cartier is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Cartier is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cartier connects with a nice short shot to Anhor's temple. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T1# Cartier landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. #SU# Cartier stands up and beckons Anhor to join him on the feet. Anhor lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cartier circles away quickly and effectively.#TD# Cartier closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Anhor's guard.#SUB# Cartier drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Cartier as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Anhor screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Cartier! Nice submission victory there!

#R1# Anhor tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Zhang manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Zhang scores with a shot to the body.
Zhang throws a big shot that misses. Zhang misses with a straight right. It looked like Anhor was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Anhor tries to close the distance and clinch but Zhang swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Zhang! But no joy. Zhang punishes Anhor's body with a nice straight punch. Anhor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Zhang.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anhor takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Nice sprawl there from Zhang as Anhor shoots in. Anhor shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Zhang defends it nicely. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Zhang! But no joy.#T1# Zhang tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Anhor was well out of range. Poor timing from Zhang. Anhor fails with the takedown and Zhang counters with a left to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Anhor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Anhor fails with the takedown and Zhang counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Anhor is breathing heavily. Anhor has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Anhor there as he acknowledges the shot. Zhang digs a good body shot into Anhor's ribs.#T2##CL2# Zhang fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Anhor, pushing him back against the cage. Anhor tries for a takedown. No joy.
Zhang struggles to land a body shot inside as Anhor controls his hands.
Anhor jumps guard but Zhang stands there with Anhor around his waist. Anhor gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Zhang scores with an uppercut up the middle. Zhang pushes Anhor back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. A hook to the body from Zhang.
Zhang lands a body punch. This has been an exciting period of action! Zhang lands a body shot in the clinch.
Zhang makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. A shot in the inside from Zhang. #ROC2#Anhor is rocked! Zhang dips a shoulder and cracks Anhor with a mighty uppercut! Anhor falls back against the cage and Zhang unloads with a barrage of strikes! Anhor is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Zhang screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mario Zhang! A relieved looking Mario Zhang thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
