The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Payne shoots in looking for a takedown but Takemura manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Payne's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. #R1# Horrible takedown attempt by Payne or perhaps it was just good defense by Ridcully, which made it look bad. Ridcully steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Payne. Ridcully lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Payne closes the distance and clinches up with Ridcully, looking for a takedown. Payne pushes Ridcully against the cage but Ridcully circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ridcully scores with a nice head shot. Payne takes a shot right to the bread basket. Payne is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ridcully sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Payne.
