Geerdes works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.#CUT#It looks like Buntaro Funaki has been cut. Geerdes lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Geerdes throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Geerdes throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Funaki counters with a low kick, right behind Geerdes 's knee. Geerdes looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Geerdes thuds his shin into the meat of Funaki's side. Funaki throws the left hand but Geerdes avoids the punch easily.#T1# Funaki is looking to land body kicks. Geerdes moves out of range of the body kick from Funaki.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Geerdes goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Buntaro Funaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#KD# Geerdes sends Funaki crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Geerdes is motioning to the referee to let Funaki up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Hans Peter Geerdes will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's time! Geerdes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.#R2# Geerdes has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Geerdes there as he acknowledges the shot. and Geerdes makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Funaki really felt that one! Funaki comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Funaki waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Geerdes. Geerdes appears to be looking for a big counter. Funaki connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. #T2# Funaki lands with a thumping leg kick.

Geerdes drops Funaki with a huge uppercut! Funaki drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Geerdes is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

#R1# Ruggeri shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Funaki sprawls well. Funaki wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ruggeri gets slowly back to his feet. No luck for Ruggeri with that takedown attempt. Ruggeri has a takedown stuffed. Buntaro Funaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Franco Ruggeri. #R1# Sitsongrit shoots for a takedown but Funaki saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Funaki throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Funaki lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sitsongrit has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sitsongrit and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Funaki avoids the head kick by Sitsongrit.

Sitsongrit is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.#TD2# Sitsongrit jumps guard and drags Funaki to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. #SUB2# Sitsongrit has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Funaki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Funaki trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No, Funaki has managed to get both his arms back between Sitsongrit's legs - danger averted. Funaki is fighting to break Sitsongrit's control of his arms but Sitsongrit is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Funaki trying to control the position from guard on top but Sitsongrit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. #T2# A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Funaki pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sitsongrit is keeping the position for now. #REF3# The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sitsongrit on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. A looping hook to the body misses from Funaki. Sitsongrit does a little dance to reset his feet. Nice takedown defense from Funaki. No joy for Sitsongrit on that attempt. Funaki appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Buntaro Funaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Petchbunthong Sitsongrit. Funaki misses with a kick to the body.
