#R1# Sokk shoots in looking for a takedown but Shrute manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sokk's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Urjo Sokk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sokk fails with the takedown#TD# and Shrute counters with a single leg into guard. Sokk didn't expect that. Sokk wants to sweep here but Shrute controlling him for the moment. Shrute distracts Sokk with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Sokk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shrute. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Shrute is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shrute slips nicely into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sokk is trying to control but can't.
#SUB2# Sokk looking for a kimura from the bottom but Shrute passes into side control!#SUB# Shrute has an Americana. Sokk didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Shrute is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Shrute hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Dwight Shrute! After the fight, Dwight Shrute was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
