#TD# and Konter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in en's guard. Konter throws a big elbow that misses. Konter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Konter is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Konter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. en really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Konter. #R1# Clash looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Clash throws a nice looking combination but Konter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.#TD2# Konter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Clash pulls Konter in to control the position. Konter landing with the ground and pound. Konter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Konter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Clash. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Konter trying to control but Clash is working from the bottom. Konter throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Konter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Clash lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.#REVR# Konter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. #T1# Clash controlling from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Clash seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Konter for as long as he can get away with. Clash has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Konter is proving hard to escape from. #T2# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Clash looking to control the position here, rather than advance. #REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.#CL# Clash fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Konter, pushing him back against the cage.#BC# Clash breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Konter fails with the takedown.#T3# Clash lands a nice looking body kick.#TD2# Konter closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Clash to the mat! Clash manages to get full guard. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Konter working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Konter's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Konter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Clash manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Konter manages to get himself to full guard.
#REVR# Clash won't allow Konter to get back to his feet. Clash wants to get up but he can't break Konter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Konter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Clash controls the pace of the fight for a moment.#T4# Clash stops Konter from standing up. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Clash's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Konter wants to stand up but Clash is controlling him. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Konter can do anything to dispel that myth. Clash trying to control the position from guard on top but Konter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Clash trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Clash is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Konter can do to turn this around? Konter fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Konter shoots in looking for a takedown but Clash manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Konter's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. MikeFlier Clash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grond Konter. Konter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Clash sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Konter somewhat. Clash throws a head kick but Konter moves out of range.

#R1# Horrible takedown attempt by Konter or perhaps it was just good defense by Redman, which made it look bad. Konter tries for a takedown but Redman circles away easily and Redman counters with a three punch combo that has Konter backing up. Konter nods at Redman to acknowledge the strikes. Redman throws a head kick that Konter semi-blocks.
#TD# Konter is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Redman's half guard. Redman manages to escape and get back to his feet! Konter postures up in Pontanian's guard and throws a big left but Pontanian blocks it. Pontanian is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Konter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.#SUB# Konter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
