#R1# Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive. Baljak tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carlier paws at him with a jab and circles away. Carlier wants to counter the offense by Baljak and move into the clinch position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#TD2# Carlier feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Carlier controls from within his opponent's guard. #T1# Baljak looking to control.
Carlier must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Carlier trying to move into half guard but instead Baljak has managed to sweep!#REVR# Baljak controlling from the top position. Baljak tries to free his leg and advance position but Carlier is retaining full guard. Baljak won't allow Carlier to sweep him here. #T2# The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Baljak wants to control from the top but Carlier keeps moving. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carlier can do anything to dispel that myth.#SUB2# Carlier escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Baljak gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Baljak stopping the sweep attempt from Carlier. Carlier is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!#REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Nick Carlier. Well Carlier has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1 round of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision. Judge Sandra Marshall scores the fight 9:10 Judge Santiago Holmes scores the fight 9:10 Judge Peter Branson scores the fight 9:10
In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Nick Carlier! |
