#R1# Stark fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Junior wants to counter the offense by Stark and move into the clinch position. Stark shoots in for a double leg but Junior sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Junior bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Stark misses with a takedown attempt #TD2# and Junior counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Morello Stark. That's going to take a lot out of him. Junior is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Junior landing some decent shots from guard. Junior slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Stark might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stark looking to control.

#R1# Stark fails with a takedown attempt. Stark is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Garcia Jr. Stark fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Garcia Jr avoids it really well and circles away. Stark shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Garcia Jr as he jumps to the side. Edgar Garcia Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Morello Stark. Garcia Jr misses with a wild combination.
Garcia Jr lands a nice looking body shot.
Nice sprawl there from Garcia Jr as Stark shoots in. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Garcia Jr uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Garcia Jr definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Stark fails with the takedown and Garcia Jr counters with a left to the body. Morello Stark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Garcia Jr uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Stark's coach down at Gumburcules Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Stark's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Stark closes the distance and clinches up with Garcia Jr, looking for a takedown. Stark pushes Garcia Jr against the cage but Garcia Jr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Garcia Jr throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Stark colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Garcia Jr as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Stark is left battered and dazed whilst Garcia Jr and his camp cheer!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edgar Garcia Jr! Edgar Garcia Jr is the new bantamweight champion! In his post fight interview, Edgar Garcia Jr started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception. |

Stark is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Proven is keeping busy.#TD2# Proven pulls guard successfully.

Stark wants to control from the top but Proven keeps moving. #SUB# Stark has gone for a leg lock! Proven gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Proven working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB# Stark working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Proven doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Proven manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
