#R1# Tanner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Nice sprawl there from Tanner as Jones shoots in.#TD2# Tanner gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Tanner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tanner tries to get out of the position. Jones trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tanner's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tanner wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment. Tanner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones throwing strikes from guard but Tanner blocks nicely. Tanner preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jones makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.#T1# Jones with a flurry of punches that miss. Jones throws a strike but Tanner rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. #REVR# Jones wants to stand but Tanner is controlling the position. Tanner is stalling in the full guard. Tanner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.#T2# There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Tanner won't allow Jones to get back to his feet. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Tanner stays in close to Jones's body and controls the position. #REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Tanner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tanner off to one side. Despite the aggression on Jones's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Jones fails to land the takedown.#TD2# Jones manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Tanner on his heels. He'll look to pass Tanner's guard now, I'm sure. Tanner kicks Jones off and gets to his feet. Jones connects with the punch. Tanner fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tanner shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Tanner is breathing heavily.#TD2# Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into Tanner's guard.#T3# The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. #SUB2# Jones postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tanner is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jones, into his guard. #REVR# Tanner trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. #ES2# Jones has his feet on Tanner's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tanner avoids it really well and circles away. Andrew Tanner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Jones.#T4# Tanner shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jones displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Jones throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Tanner on the side of the head. Jones moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.#ROC2#Tanner is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Jones shuts the power down on Tanner. Lights out, game over! Jones is your winner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Justin Jones! A relieved looking Justin Jones thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
