Rivera scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Canvana is defended easily by Rivera. Canvana fails with the takedown. Rivera doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Colby Canvana. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rivera cracks Canvana with a good jab. Canvana tries to clinch and Rivera counters with a right hand to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rivera throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Rivera connects with a body shot. Rivera misses with a head kick.

Rivera follows up with another monster hook that separates Canvana from consciousness! Canvana falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Rivera stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

#R1# A shot to the liver by Pukki. Beautiful body shot. We've been told by Pukki's head coaches at The Tank Factory that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Rivera avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Rivera takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Rivera misses with a body shot.
Pukki throws a lazy right hand but Rivera sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pukki ducks under a wild hook from Rivera. Pukki takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Rivera moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Pukki throws a lazy right hand but Rivera sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. A big left from Pukki misses. Pukki takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Rivera misses with a body shot.

You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.#SUB# Pukki wants to work for an arm triangle but Rivera is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Rivera is not content to let Pukki control the position. Well, if Pukki is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Lauzon tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. An inside leg kick lands from Rivera. Lauzon shoots in but Rivera avoids the takedown attempt easily. Rivera stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rivera wants it to stay on the feet. Kamren Rivera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Lauzon. Lauzon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rivera defends it nicely. Rivera pulls out of a head kick attempt.

#R1# Ming misses with an uppercut. Rivera saw that one coming. Rivera loads up on a big right hand but Ming slips the punch. Rivera lands with a thumping leg kick.
Rivera takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Rivera throws an overhand right that lands on Ming's shoulder, as Ming tries to avoid the shot. Rivera scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Rivera throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ming counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Ming misses with a straight left. Jab from Rivera. Ming is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rivera falls off balance throwing a combination

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kamren Rivera. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rivera, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Rivera is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Strickland tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
