Kormier tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Simpson's coach down at Tran MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Simpson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.#TD# Kormier jumps into guard, dragging Simpson to the mat.
Simpson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Simpson scoring with punches to the head and body. Simpson throwing strikes but missing. #SUB# Kormier working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Simpson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Kormier is tightening it up a little... Simpson has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Simpson reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Simpson taps out! Nice BJJ there by Kormier!

Manduano misses with a low kick as Simpson jumps back. Simpson misses with a few strikes there.
Manduano throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Simpson misses the shot to the body. Manduano looks to land a right hand but Simpson moved out of range. Simpson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Manduano throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Manduano throws a head kick that misses. Manduano slips a jab and a cross from Simpson.
Manduano throws a right and a left that Simpson avoids nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Manduano scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Simpson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Manduano pinned against the cage. Manduano gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. #T1# Simpson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Some wild striking there from Manduano.

#TD2# and Simpson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Manduano's guard. Simpson lands a couple of digs. Manduano utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. #SUB# Simpson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Manduano has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Simpson has managed to get both his arms back between Manduano's legs - danger averted.#SUB# Manduano looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Simpson landing with the ground and pound. Manduano seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.#T2# Simpson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Simpson works over Manduano with some ground and pound from guard.#ROC2#Manduano is rocked! Simpson gets to his feet and stands over Manduano, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Manduano felt that one! Simpson unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Manduano from any more punishment!

#TD2# Tee looking to score a takedown here. Simpson is defending well but Tee drives through and ends up in Simpson's guard. Tee throwing strikes but missing. Simpson is trying to control the position but Tee postures up. Tee connects with a couple of short punches. Tee wants to pass the guard but Simpson is keeping the position. Tee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Simpson looking for a sweep. Not yet Simpson, not yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Simpson looking to control.
Tee won't allow Simpson to get back to his feet. Tee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.#T1# Tee wants to stand but Simpson is controlling his posture from full guard. #REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.#CL2# Tee takes the fight into the clinch. Tee gets underhooks to prevent Simpson's takedown attempt.

Simpson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Simpson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Tee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Simpson is one step ahead there. #T2# A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Tee holds on and takes a little breather. Simpson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Tee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simpson's guard. #REVB# Tee preventing the sweep. Simpson keeping full guard, as Tee tries to pass. Tee is looking to work some ground and pound but Simpson has wrist control.#SUB2# Tee drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tee jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tee throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Simpson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. #T3# Simpson is controlling Tee's posture. Simpson controls Tee momentarily but Tee frees himself. Tee controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Simpson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tee is one step ahead there. Tee stopping the sweep attempt from Simpson.#T4# Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Tee wants to stand but Simpson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. #REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.#TD# Simpson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tee to the mat! Tee manages to get full guard. Simpson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Tee is controlling Simpson's posture. Simpson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tee's head. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tee seems keen to control Simpson's posture. Simpson with a flurry of punches that miss. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Boba Tee dominated that round. That's time! Simpson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.#R2# Simpson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

#R1# Diaz throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Simpson counters with a nice body shot. Diaz lands with a kick to the temple. Simpson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Diaz scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.#CL# Simpson moves into range and clinches up with Diaz. Simpson keeps control of Diaz as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Diaz has had enough of the clinch but Simpson keeps him there for the moment. Diaz can't break the clinch.

#CL2# Diaz moves into the clinch. Nice elbow from Diaz. Simpson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Diaz gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A frustrated look appears on Diaz's face as he tries to break the clinch. #TD# Simpson is trying to trip Diaz. He has hold of a leg but Diaz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Simpson persists though and gets the takedown into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Simpson lands a couple of elbows. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Simpson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Simpson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Diaz's guard. #T1# Simpson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Diaz pushes Simpson off looking to stand but Simpson dives back in and keeps control.
Simpson is nestled in close to Diaz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Simpson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Simpson prevents Diaz from standing back up.

Still in half guard, Simpson seems content to control. Simpson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Simpson lands a big shot.
