and Ruiz counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Ruiz lands a head kick!
Stabler punishes Ruiz's body with a nice straight punch. Stabler throws a jab when Ruiz was well out of range. Stabler swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruiz. A little jabbing left from Stabler on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Ruiz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Nice jab there from Stabler. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#CL# Ruiz closes the distance and pushes Stabler back into the cage.#TD2# Stabler gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Ruiz is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Stabler dives into side control.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Ruiz is trying to work for a sweep but Stabler has mounted him! Stabler controlling the pace for now. Ruiz wants to control but Stabler is having none of it. Ruiz wants to hold on but Stabler pushes him away. Stabler controlling the position easily from mount. You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Ruiz wants to control but Stabler is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruiz looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Stabler has good solid back control here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Let's hope that Stabler has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. And that is the end of the round. Roussel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Stabler. Roussel throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Stabler misses with a low kick. Stabler lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Diaz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Stabler avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nile Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him. A right hand to the body from Stabler.
