Donnie Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones throws a hook but Slimm avoids it easily.
Despite the aggression on Slimm's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Jones throws a jab but it's blocked by Slimm.
Slimm is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Jones throws a body shot but no joy.
Slimm shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.#TD2#

Jones looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Slimm is defending well. Jones quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Slimm dives in and scores a takedown into Nasar's guard.
Nasar wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Slimm manages to pass to side control. #REVR#
Slimm content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Slimm slips a nice elbow through Nasar's hands, connecting with Nasar's forehead.
Nasar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Slimm on the ground.
Nasar wants to control but Slimm is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nasar is staying active underneath Slimm, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Slimm lands a nice short elbow.

Let's hope that Slimm has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
