Ruane with the counter takedown but Boulder avoids it easily. Nice shot by Boulder. A left and a right from Boulder both land. Nice combination. Boulder swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ruane lands a head kick. Boulder smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Ruane moves out of range of the leg kick from Boulder. Boulder avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
#TD2# Ruane closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Boulder did well to prevent Ruane getting side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Boulder tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Ruane has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Boulder in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. #T1# Ruane controlling the position easily from mount. Boulder taking shots to the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruane punching from mount but Boulder doing a good job of avoiding damage. Ruane tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Boulder blocking the ground and pound. #T2# The referee warns Boulder that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ruane has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Boulder avoids a series of strikes thrown by Ruane.

Beau Ruane dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.#R2# Ruane staying out of range there. Boulder lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Nice uppercut there from Boulder. Ruane keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

A lazy left from Boulder finds it's target. Boulder throws out a powerful jab. Rock Boulder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ruane shoots in looking for a takedown but Boulder manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ruane's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Ruane slips a straight right by Boulder. Boulder throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Boulder misses with a straight right. And Ruane tries to counter it with a takedown but Boulder pushes his down on his head and steps out. Boulder will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Ruane comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Boulder stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Ruane is on him like rabid pit bull! Boulder slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!

#R1# Horrible takedown attempt by Ruane or perhaps it was just good defense by Grip, which made it look bad. #KD# Oooooh!!! Ruane has knocked Grip down with a huge combo! Ruane steps away and waves a wobbly Grip back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!#CUT#It looks like Max Grip has been cut. Grip avoids a kick to the body.
Ruane tries to clinch up. Grip dives in and grabs Ruane's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ruane pushes down on Grip's head and hops out. Ruane looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Grip is fending him off so far but Ruane persists. Nope, Grip circles away and we're back to standing. Ruane looks for a takedown but Grip sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Beau Ruane. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruane darts in looking for a takedown but Grip gets double underhooks and turns Ruane into the cage. #TD2# Grip lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Grip connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

#T4# Grip is landing with some decent strikes but Ruane is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Grip looking to control and managing it successfully. Let's hope that Grip has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. And that is the end of the round. Ruane wants to get back to his feet but Mirenko is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Ruane might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ruane working a defensive guard here.
Mirenko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.#SUB# Ruane looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

#R1# Ruane wants to clinch and Ruane takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A punch lands to the side of Ruane 's head but he takes it in his stride. Ruane with a poor takedown and Rantanen counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Ruane to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Rantanen!
