Pili tries to clinch but Carter is having none of it. We've been hearing reports that Pili has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Carter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Pili backing away here, and Carter unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Carter throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Carter misses with a hook. Pili ducked under it nicely. #TD# Pili shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pili showed some decent athleticism there. Carter wants to get back to full guard. Pili wants to free his trapped foot but Carter is holding on for dear life with his legs. Pili thows a huge punch but Carter dodges it nicely.

Carter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. #T1# The fighters circle momentarily. Carter darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Carter stuffs the takedown attempt from Pili. Pili gets slowly back to his feet. Carter cracks Pili with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Pili tries to counter with a takedown but Carter is quick to defend against it. Pili fails with the takedown. A little jabbing left from Carter on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maka Pili. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pili tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pili somewhat. It seemed like Carter was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Kysre Carter seems to be getting the better of the standup. Carter moves into range and connects with a jab. Carter lands a nice shot that snaps Pili's head back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pili shoots in and drives through. Carter sprawls well. Pili moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Pili uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Carter.#T3# Pili tries to clinch up but Carter circles away and keeps his distance. Carter looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Carter darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Pili with a poor takedown and Carter counters with a nice uppercut. A chopping leg kick lands by Carter. The crowd cheers as Carter lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pili doesn't seem phased though. Carter feints and then cracks Pili's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Pili down. Nice shot lands for Carter. Carter swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Carter has been the more effective fighter overall so far. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
