and Roberson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.#TD#
Vaughn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.#SU#

Vaughn shoots in and bounces Velez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Velez has momentary wrist control but Vaughn slips an elbow through the middle.
Vaughn's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vaughn's guard. #REVR##SUB2#

Velez wants to get back to his feet but Vaughn passes into half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vaughn is taking a breather. Velez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vaughn connects with a nice short shot to Velez's temple. #T3#
