The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Chai takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Makio is lucky that one didn't land flush. Makio tries to clinch and Hanayama cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Hanayama fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Makio is out of range. Makio tries a head kick but it misses.

Makio tries to close the distance and clinch but Novak swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Novak takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Makio tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Makio lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Novak circles away quickly and effectively. Makio tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Novak counters with a lovely straight right hand! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Makio misses with a left hand #CL# and Novak counters into the clinch. Nicely done. #BC# Novak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Novak scores with a kick to the body.
