Whitehead pulls Kent in close to his closed guard and prevents Kent from doing any damage or advancing position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kent advances position into side control! Whitehead regains half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kent wants to lay and pray for a moment but Whitehead keeps working. Whitehead preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. #T1# Whitehead has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Whitehead is looking to improve his position.

Kent throws a combination that misses and Carter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kent thinking. #TD2# Kent shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Kent takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB2# Kent is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carter is just riding it out for now. Kent eventually gives up the hold. Carter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kent on the ground. Kent stalling. #T1##SUB2# Kent is working for a submission of some sort.

#R1# Nice takedown defense from Cooke. No joy for Kent on that attempt. Cooke uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Cooke throws a lazy right hand but Kent sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Kent throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Kent tries to clinch but Cooke moves out of range. Cooke cracks Kent with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Kent throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cooke's waist but Cooke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kent off to one side. Kent tries to clinch but Cooke moves out of range. Cooke definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Kent fails with a takedown attempt. August Cooke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Kent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kent defending well as Cooke loads up on a big left hand. Kent fails in his attempt to clinch. Cooke connects with a looping right hand.

Thatcherton lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kent wants to counter with a clinch but Shimada pushes him away. Kent uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Kent keeps the fight on the outside. Yuki Shimada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shimada closes the distance looking to clinch and Kent counters with a nice body shot. #CL# Shimada clinches. #TD# Shimada manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Kent is pushing down on Shimada's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shimada is fighting to maintain full guard but Kent has managed to sneak the leg through. Kent not doing much here.
