#R1##TD2# Hernandez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shields to the mat! Shields manages to get full guard. Hernandez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Hernandez won't allow Shields to sweep him here. Hernandez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Shields being controlled here, momentarily. Shields has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hernandez has passed into side control.
Shields can't do much from the bottom here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hernandez lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Shields down.
Shields gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. #SUB2# Shields is defending against the submission attempts here by Hernandez.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Hernandez sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. It looks like Hernandez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance...
