Konogawa really is a fat lump. Konogawa can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ger controls the pace. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Konogawa wants to stand up but Ger is controlling him. Ger with a flurry of punches that miss. Ger is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.#T1# Ger makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Ger showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Horrible takedown attempt by Ger or perhaps it was just good defense by Konogawa, which made it look bad. Konogawa is fending him off so far but Ger persists. Nope, Konogawa circles away and we're back to standing. This is the final round!#R3# Konogawa throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Ger. A head kick by Ger misses and Konogawa counters with a three punch combo that has Ger backing up. Ger nods at Konogawa to acknowledge the strikes. Konogawa throws a sloppy head kick and Ger counters with a nice kick to the body. Ger misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Konogawa went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. A head kick by Ger misses and Konogawa counters with a three punch combo that has Ger backing up. Ger nods at Konogawa to acknowledge the strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Konogawa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ger tries to avoid it but Konogawa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ger to the ground. Konogawa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ger won't allow Konogawa to get back to his feet. #T1# The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ger slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Konogawa wants to stand but Ger is controlling the position. Konogawa looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Ger is looking to take a break and control but Konogawa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Nick Ger has got the better of the ground game so far. Ger is taking a breather. Konogawa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.#T4# The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... The ref calls for Konogawa to stand up. Konogawa lands with a kick to the temple. Ger shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Nick Ger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#TD2# Ger feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ger throws a strike but Konogawa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. #REVR# Konogawa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
