The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Sansho shoots in for a takedown but Zero shows good takedown defense. Sansho is trying hard to land a takedown here. Zero sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Sansho shoots in and drives through. Zero sprawls well. Sub Zero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 2 losses; Yakami Sansho! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.#TD# Hobbs feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Gozo Shioda! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Shirou Masuda.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sansho. Sansho dives in for a single leg takedown but Shioda sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. Sansho sets himself, and Shioda steps forward looking for the clinch! Sansho avoids it this time. Shioda jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sansho walks away with a smile on his face. Shioda gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Sansho gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily #CL2# and Shioda counters by clinching up. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yakami Sansho. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shioda prevents the takedown attempt.

#R1# Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive. Hitashi Sansho avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Hitashi Sansho now looks to counter with a shot at the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hitashi Sansho misses with a shot to the body and Yakami Sansho counters with a straight right hand. Hitashi Sansho throws a body punch but Yakami Sansho moves out of range. Yakami Sansho throwing a counter right hand but Hitashi Sansho manages to avoid it.#T1# Yakami Sansho misses with a hook. Hitashi Sansho ducked under it nicely. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yakami Sansho. Well Yakami Sansho has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
