Carbo has Melendez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Melendez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. #BC# Melendez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A left and a right from Carbo both land. Nice combination. Carbo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Carbo shoots for a takedown but Melendez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Melendez is looking to counter the offense by Carbo and move into the clinch. Tripp Melendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matteo Carbo. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Melendez looks to score with a jab to the body but Carbo is just out of range. No luck for Carbo with that takedown attempt. #T1# Carbo misses with a takedown attempt enabling Melendez to counter with a crisp jab. Carbo throws a lazy head kick letting Melendez counter with a right hand. Carbo closes the distance and clinches up with Melendez, looking for a takedown. Carbo pushes Melendez against the cage but Melendez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Carbo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Melendez sprawls well. Melendez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Carbo gets slowly back to his feet. Melendez looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Carbo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Melendez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Melendez moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Carbo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Carbo looks winded! Carbo tries to close the distance and clinch but Melendez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Melendez swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.#T2# Carbo misses with the combination.
Melendez throws the left hand but Carbo avoids the punch easily. Carbo changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Melendez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Melendez wants it to stay on the feet. Melendez looks for a takedown but Carbo sprawls well. Melendez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carbo.

Carbo looks to land a body kick but Melendez moved away.#T3# Carbo shoots in looking for a takedown. Melendez tries to sprawl out of it but Carbo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Melendez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. A looping hook to the body misses from Melendez. Carbo does a little dance to reset his feet. Carbo shoots and misses and Melendez counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Carbo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Melendez circles away quickly and effectively. Melendez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Melendez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carbo.#CL# Melendez moves into range and clinches up with Carbo.#BC# Melendez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
#T4# No luck for Carbo with that takedown attempt. Melendez walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Carbo drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Melendez swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Carbo's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Thiago De Lima! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Melendez shoots in looking for a takedown but De Lima manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Melendez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.#CL2# De Lima clinches up against the cage. Melendez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
De Lima jumps guard but Melendez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. #TD2# De Lima gets control of Melendez's arms and successfully pulls guard. De Lima will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.#SUB2# De Lima working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Melendez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Melendez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. De Lima bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Melendez's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. De Lima passes Melendez's right leg, so he's now in half guard. #T1##SUB2# De Lima is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Melendez is just riding it out for now. De Lima eventually gives up the hold. De Lima moves into full mount! Melendez won't be happy about that! Melendez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for De Lima on the ground. De Lima wants to take Melendez's back here but Melendez is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
