#R1# Lin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kaufman defends it nicely. Kaufman swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Kaufman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lin. Lin shoots in but Kaufman avoids the takedown attempt easily. Alvin Kaufman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Lin. Lin dives in for a single leg takedown but Kaufman sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. It looked like Kaufman wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Decent striking displayed by Kaufman there. Kaufman lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Lin at a distance.
Kevin Lin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kaufman shoots in and drives through. Lin sprawls well. Lin misses with a takedown attempt - Kaufman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kaufman's waist but Kaufman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lin off to one side. An attempted straight right counter from Kaufman misses the target. Lin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kaufman. Lin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kaufman sprawls well. Kaufman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lin gets slowly back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lin darts in looking for a takedown but Kaufman gets double underhooks and turns Lin into the cage. Lin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kaufman wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.#T3# Kaufman throws a head kick but Lin moves out of range.
#KD# Kaufman lands a big right hand that sends Lin crashing to the mat! Kaufman stays standing though and waves Lin back to his feet!#ROC#Lin is rocked! Lin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Lin is still on wobbly legs! Can Kaufman finish him? Lin closes the distance and clinches up with Kaufman, looking for a takedown. Lin pushes Kaufman against the cage but Kaufman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Horrible takedown attempt by Lin or perhaps it was just good defense by Kaufman, which made it look bad. Kaufman throwing a counter right hand but Lin manages to avoid it. Lin seems to have recovered his senses. Lin shoots and misses #KD# and Kaufman counters with a crisp right hand that drops Lin! Kaufman lets Lin back up to his feet, looking for a finish! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kaufman scores with a body shot.
#T4# Kaufman flashes Lin a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Lin's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Lin crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Kaufman punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Kaufman slaps away a takedown attempt from Riker, before circling back to the center of the mat. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Riker is defended easily by Kaufman.#TD# Riker closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Riker is trying to control. Kaufman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Kaufman moves into full guard.
Riker definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.#SUB# Riker drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Riker seems to have locked his on tight now - Kaufman screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Riker, as he picks up the win!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). William Riker! A very excited looking William Riker rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed. |
