It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kingston defends it well. Kingston tries to get to full guard but Makhachev has control of the leg. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T1# Makhachev is looking to take a break and control but Kingston is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Makhachev thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. #SUB# Makhachev is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kingston sees it coming and defends easily. #R1##TD# Macallan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Makhachev to the mat! Makhachev manages to get full guard. Macallan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Macallan throwing strikes from guard but Makhachev blocks nicely. Macallan is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Macallan stays in close to Makhachev's body and controls the position. Macallan scores with a decent looking elbow strike.#T1# Makhachev working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Macallan. Macallan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Macallan stopping the sweep attempt from Makhachev.#SUB2# Makhachev is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Macallan is aware though and is defending well. Macallan showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Macallan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Makhachev for as long as he can get away with. Macallan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Weeks uses from the top position. Weeks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Weeks wants to control from the top but Makhachev keeps moving. Makhachev has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#T1# Makhachev looking for a sweep. Not yet Makhachev, not yet. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Weeks is stalling in the full guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Makhachev stops Evans from getting back to his feet.
Makhachev looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Evans is trying to stand up here but Makhachev is controlling him well. Evans is trying to escape back to his feet but Makhachev uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Umarov has had enough of the clinch but Makhachev keeps him there for the moment. The referee is keeping an eye on Makhachev - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Makhachev in particular looking to stall. Makhachev landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
