#R1##CL# Johnston pushes Asamoah up against the cage in a clinch. A bit of stalling here from Johnston.
Asamoah has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Johnston after a bit of a struggle. #TD# Johnston has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Asamoah regains guard immediately. Johnston controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Johnston stops Asamoah from standing up. Asamoah looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Johnston puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Johnston will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Johnston is taking a breather. Asamoah says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB# Johnston has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Asamoah defend it? Johnston steps over the head and cranks it - Asamoah is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Johnston!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rudy Johnston! Rudy Johnston opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see. |
