#R1# Coombs misses with a wild body shot. Van Gogh goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Vincent Van Gogh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#CL# Van Gogh tries to keep at a distance but Coombs has taken the fight into the clinch. Van Gogh has a couple of punches blocked by Coombs.
Coombs blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.#BC# Coombs breaks the clinch.
Coombs throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Van Gogh has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Van Gogh throws a lazy right hand but Coombs sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Van Gogh throws the left hand but Coombs avoids the punch easily. Coombs drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Coombs moves away from the strike by Van Gogh. Coombs throws a quick counter head kick but Van Gogh was just out of range. Van Gogh slips a jab and a cross from Coombs.
#TD# Van Gogh gets caught napping as Coombs dives in and scores a takedown. Van Gogh manages to retain guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Coombs won't allow Van Gogh to get back to his feet. Coombs wants to pass the guard but Van Gogh is keeping the position. Van Gogh working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Coombs. #T1# Coombs lands a couple of elbows. Van Gogh keeping full guard, as Coombs tries to pass. Van Gogh can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Coombs controls the pace.#REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Coombs uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Van Gogh.#T2# The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Coombs takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Coombs dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Van Gogh. That did some damage! Coombs walks into a left hand. Coombs misses with a straight left. Van Gogh throws a hook but Coombs blocks it. Van Gogh wants to clinch. Coombs keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Coombs avoids a lazy jab quite easily.#CL# Coombs darts in and clinches Van Gogh up against the ropes. Coombs drops down looking for an ankle pick but Van Gogh pulls his leg out and moves away.
Van Gogh swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Coombs. Van Gogh tries to clinch up.#TD# Coombs looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Van Gogh! The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Coombs remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. #T3# Coombs lands an elbow. Coombs content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Coombs postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. #T4# A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.#SU# Coombs stands up. Coombs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. #TD# Coombs throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Van Gogh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Coombs is in Van Gogh's guard. Coombs working some strikes from top position.#T5# Coombs's corner is telling him to maintain position. Coombs with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Coombs seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Coombs throwing strikes but missing. Coombs controlling from the top position. #T6# Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.#REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Sloppy strikes from Van Gogh. Those never looked like landing. Coombs shoots in looking for a takedown. Van Gogh tries to sprawl out of it but Coombs keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Van Gogh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. #CL2# Van Gogh gets in close and instigates a clinch. #T7# A nice left hand lands by Van Gogh.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Van Gogh tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Coombs wants to stall.
A head punch on the inside from Van Gogh fails to land. Coombs has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Van Gogh avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Coombs. That's going to take a lot out of him. Van Gogh is defending well against a takedown attempt. Van Gogh doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Van Gogh wants to stall.
Van Gogh throws a punch but it's blocked by Coombs. Van Gogh swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Van Gogh throws a head punch that misses. Van Gogh is trying to force a seperation but Coombs has the dominant position.#T8# Coombs blocks an elbow strike. Van Gogh throws a punch but it's blocked by Coombs. #TD# Coombs has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Van Gogh clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Van Gogh is trying to stand back up. Coombs really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Van Gogh.#T9# Van Gogh trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Van Gogh is trying to get back to his feet but Coombs has full control of the position and if anything, Van Gogh has just worked his way into a worse spot. A bit of a pause in the action here. Coombs controlling the positon. Van Gogh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coombs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#SUB# Coombs has managed to slip his arm under Van Gogh's chin. This could be all over... yep, Van Gogh is tapping out! Submission win for Coombs.
