Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Weeks uses from the top position. Weeks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Weeks wants to control from the top but Makhachev keeps moving. Makhachev has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#T1# Makhachev looking for a sweep. Not yet Makhachev, not yet. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Weeks is stalling in the full guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Weeks trying to control but Makhachev is working from the bottom. #REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.#CL# Makhachev has closed the distance and engaged Weeks in a clinch.
Makhachev has Weeks pressed against the ropes, preventing Weeks from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Weeks wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Makhachev keeps control of Weeks as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. #T2# My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.#TD# Makhachev manages to pull guard.
Weeks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Makhachev swivels though and keeps the full guard. Makhachev wants to stand but Weeks is controlling the position. Weeks trying to control but Makhachev is working from the bottom. Makhachev is pulling down on Weeks's head to control his posture. Makhachev lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.#REVR##T3# Makhachev pushing down on Weeks's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Weeks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Makhachev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Weeks wants to control but Makhachev is keeping busy.
Makhachev passes to full mount! We've been hearing that Makhachev has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Weeks is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Makhachev looking to control but Weeks is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Makhachev looking to control and managing it successfully. Weeks is squirming around, avoiding Makhachev's attempts to control the action. #T4##SUB# Makhachev is working for a guillotine from mount but Weeks frees his head quite easily.
Makhachev tries to control but Weeks wriggling away. Makhachev fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
#SUB# Makhachev is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Weeks is forced to tap! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Islam Makhachev! A determined Islam Makhachev didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it! |

#R1# A combination from Good does no damage. Good misses with the combination.
Good throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Weeks feints a jab promting Good to slip. Weeks then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Good slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Weeks connects with a high kick. Good shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Weeks as he avoids it easily. Good throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Weeks's waist but Weeks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Good off to one side. Good shoots in but Weeks avoids the takedown attempt easily. It looked like Weeks was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Good. Grady Weeks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keegan Good. Good on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Weeks looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
No luck for Good with that takedown attempt. A counter left hand to the body from Weeks misses its target.#T1# Weeks lands with a kick to the temple. Good shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Weeks just misses with a punch to the body.
Good has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Weeks. Good shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Weeks sprawls well. Weeks wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Good gets slowly back to his feet. Good misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Grady Weeks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. No luck for Good with that takedown attempt. Weeks was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Good looks winded!#CL2# Good darts in and clinches Weeks up against the cage. Weeks tries to break the clinch but Good is controlling the position. #BC2# Good breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. #T2# Weeks lands a head kick!
Good shoots in and drives through. Weeks sprawls well. It appears Weeks was looking to counter with a kick there. A swing and a miss from Weeks. Good misses with a leg kick and Weeks counters with a big head kick but Good shrugs it off. A head kick from Weeks lands but Good takes it in his stride. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Weeks looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Weeks throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Weeks lands a nice hook to Good's body. Good takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Good takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Weeks slaps away a takedown attempt from Good, before circling back to the center of the mat. It looked like Weeks was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Good takes a shot to the body in his stride.
#T3# Weeks misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Weeks takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Keegan Good seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Good throws a sloppy head kick and Weeks moves out of range easily. Good swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Weeks counters with a three punch combo that has Good backing up. Good nods at Weeks to acknowledge the strikes. Weeks with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Good stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Weeks. A head kick misses from Weeks. #CL2# Good has Weeks up against the cage in a clinch.

Good lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Weeks is looking to break free of the clinch but Good has double underhooks. #T4##TD2# Good jumps guard.
Weeks looking to sit in guard and control but Good gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. #REVB# Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!#SU2# Good gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Good fails to land the takedown. Nice takedown defense from Weeks. No joy for Good on that attempt. Weeks scores with a kick to the midsection. Good shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Weeks but Weeks pushes him off and we're back to square one. A punch combination from Good misses. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Weeks engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Weeks wants to control from the top but Good keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Weeks sitting in guard, not really doing much. #T1# Weeks won't allow Good to sweep him here. Good being controlled here, momentarily. Good is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Good can do anything to dispel that myth. Good keeping full guard, as Weeks tries to pass. Weeks throws a quick counter head kick but Good was just out of range. Good on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Weeks. Weeks obviously looking to wear him down.
Weeks connects with a crisp jab. Good shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Weeks as he avoids it easily. Weeks lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.#T4##TD2# Weeks gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Good to score an easy takedown into full guard. Good is breathing heavily. Good wants to control from the top but Weeks keeps moving. Weeks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Weeks has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Good has passed into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Weeks is trying to work for a sweep but Good has mounted him! Weeks is trying desperately to improve position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Keegan Good showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Weeks's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!#R3# Good lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Weeks circles away quickly and effectively. Good uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Weeks.#TD2# Good drives through with a takedown into Weeks's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Good throwing strikes but missing. Good looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Good wants to get up but he can't break Weeks's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Weeks wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Good is now in half guard. #T1# Good controlling the action here. Weeks won't allow Good to pass to mount. Good works his foot free and advances to mount. Good can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Weeks is looking to escape. Weeks is trying desperately to improve position.#T2# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Good lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Good is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Weeks can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Good controlling from the full mount. Good breaks from Weeks's wrist control and lands an elbow. #T3# Weeks tries to get back to half guard but can't. Good throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Good tries to control but Weeks wriggling away. Good thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. #T4# Good thowing shots but they're missing. Good controlling the position easily from mount. Good trying to control but he's not successful this time. #SUB2# Good is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Weeks to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Weeks shrugs it off. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Weeks is trying desperately to improve position.
And that's the end of the fight! Keegan Good comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Good has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
