Sandman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tanaka to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Tanaka shoots in but Sandman avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Tanaka.
Tanaka fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tanaka goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
It looked like Sandman was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tanaka.
Sandman misses with an uppercut. Tanaka saw that one coming.

Sandman connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Tanaka's hands.
Tanaka tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sandman swivels and escapes.
Tanaka shoots for a double leg takedown but Sandman sprawls well. He's pushed Tanaka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mr Sandman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hiroshi Tanaka.

Sandman creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Tanaka with a big uppercut! Tanaka tries to clinch up but Sandman pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Tanaka to the mat! Tanaka covers up and Sandman unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mr Sandman!
After winning the bout, Mr Sandman thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
