That will dishearten Fletcher somewhat. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fletcher is defended easily by Mondale. Mondale changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Fletcher tries to clinch up but Mondale circles away and keeps his distance. Mondale tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fletcher defends well and Mondale ends up having to push Fletcher into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Mondale's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mondale wants a takedown.

Nice takedown defense from Li. No joy for Fletcher on that attempt. Fletcher tries to clinch but Li moves out of range. Jaron Fletcher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#TD# Li fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fletcher sprawls well initially but Li persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Li scoring with strikes to the body and head. Fletcher has hold of Li's hands but Li slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fletcher avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Li. Fletcher keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Fletcher trying to control from the bottom.
