Khan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Duarte's guard. #REVR# Duarte is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Khan is stalling in the full guard. Khan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Duarte working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Khan. #T1# Duarte throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Khan connects with a nice short shot to Duarte's temple. Khan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

#R1##TD# Shields fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Duarte to the ground. Shields is now in Duarte's guard. Duarte looking for a sweep. Not yet Duarte, not yet. Shields stays in close to Duarte's body and controls the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Duarte is on top in guard.
#REVB##SUB# Shields working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Duarte doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Duarte manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Duarte stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shields swivels though and keeps the full guard. Shields on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shields tries to get out of the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shields seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Duarte working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Shields really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Jacobs lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
