Padrilo tries to clinch but Newman is having none of it. Newman slips a jab and a cross from Padrilo.
Newman shoots in for a takedown but Padrilo shows good takedown defense. Padrilo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Newman but Newman pushes him off and we're back to square one. Newman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Padrilo circles away. Alessandro Padrilo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Newman.#TD# Padrilo shoots in and gets a takedown into Newman's guard. Newman has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Padrilo is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.#BC# Padrilo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. No joy for Newman on that attempt. As Newman looks to move away, Padrilo throws a big counter combo but Newman just gets out of the way. Newman shoots for a double leg takedown but Padrilo sprawls well. He's pushed Newman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Padrilo didn't expect that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Padrilo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Watcher looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Watcher trying to control but Padrilo is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Watcher works a leg free and moves into half guard. As Watched looks to move away, Padrilo throws a big counter combo but Watched just gets out of the way. Watched throws a half hearted mid kick.#CL# Watched gets tackled into the cage by Padrilo. Padrilo maintains the clinch. Watched presses Padrilo against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Nice body punch from Watched - that landed with a thud.

The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Padrilo half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Padrilo with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Watched to score with a decent uppercut. Watched circles away from the clinch attempt#KD2# and Watched lands a stunning uppercut that sends Padrilo to the mat! #ROC2#Padrilo is rocked! Padrilo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Padrilo catches Baker with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!#TD2# Padrilo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Padrilo lands in his opponent's guard. Baker keeping moving, preventing Padrilo from controlling successfully. Padrilo advances position into side control! Padrilo fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Padrilo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Padrilo landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Baker wants to control but Padrilo postures up. Baker is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
