We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Drake controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Drake lands a nice forearm strike.
Drake tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Poirier has his foot on Drake's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Drake works his way back into a safe position though.
Poirier is looking to stand up but Drake isn't so interested in that idea.
Drake wants to stand but Poirier has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Drake seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Poirier throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Drake crashing down! Drake tries to stagger back to his feet but Poirier just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Drake asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
