#R1# O Brian fails with a takedown attempt. Sherdog is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Sherdog looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! O Brian will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Sherdog shoots in looking for a takedown but O Brian manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sherdog's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Sherdog shoots in for a double leg but O Brian sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. O Brian shoots in and drives through. Sherdog sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jean O Brian. That's going to take a lot out of him. O Brian tries to grapple but his opponent circles #TD2# and Sherdog counters with a nice double leg into half guard. O Brian gets full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sherdog is fighting to break O Brian's control of his arms but O Brian is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. O Brian's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.#ES# O Brian is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Sherdog presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. #T2##TD# O Brian ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. O Brian no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. O Brian keeping moving, preventing Sherdog from controlling successfully. O Brian pulls Sherdog in close to prevent any damage. #SUB# O Brian is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sherdog defends well. Sherdog trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. O Brian loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. O Brian has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sherdog is proving hard to escape from. #SUB# O Brian thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Sherdog keeping moving, preventing O Brian from controlling successfully. #T4# There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! O Brian postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. O Brian is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sherdog can do to turn this around? O Brian manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sherdog manages to get himself to full guard.

It's a sloppy attempt though and O Brian jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. O Brian sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sherdog's guard. Sherdog is refusing to be controlled, as O Brian sits in half guard. Sherdog is breathing heavily.#T1# Sherdog keeps control of the position for the meantime. #SUB# O Brian is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T2# Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. O Brian thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. O Brian passes the guard and advances to mount! O Brian wants to control the pace but Sherdog is squirming around nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. O Brian working Sherdog over with strikes here. #T3# O Brian controlling from mount. Sherdog is working to get back to half guard.
O Brian working away from the top, dropping strikes. O Brian looking to control but Sherdog is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Sherdog wants to control but O Brian is having none of it. O Brian lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
#T4# O Brian moves to take his opponent's back. Sherdog is trying to stand back up. O Brian is riding his opponent, not letting Sherdog buck him off. Further stalling from O Brian. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! O Brian is not going to allow Sherdog to sit and survive in this position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

O Brian tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sherdog is in O Brian's guard. O Brian is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. #ES# O Brian pushes Sherdog off and gets back to his feet.

Sherdog gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and O Brian counters with a three punch combo that has Sherdog backing up. Sherdog nods at O Brian to acknowledge the strikes. Both fighters are breathing heavily.#T1# O Brian shoots in and drives through. Sherdog sprawls well.#TD2# Excellent takedown into side control there by Sherdog. O Brian is not content to let Sherdog control the position. Sherdog in side control, throwing shots but O Brian defends. Sherdog postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
O Brian can't do much from the bottom here. #T2# O Brian is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Sherdog working away.#SUB2# Sherdog is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. O Brian knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Sherdog working the ground and pound but O Brian is defending the strikes. #T3# O Brian is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Sherdog scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at O Brian to see if he's OK. Sherdog throwing shots but missing, from side control. The strikes coming from Sherdog are missing the target in this wave of attacks. #REF3# The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. O Brian tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sherdog paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sherdog drops down looking to force a counter takedown but O Brian defends it well. Sherdog leaves O Brian with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A telegraphed takedown attempt from O Brian is defended easily by Sherdog.#T4# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sherdog displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from O Brian. Sherdog takes a head kick and keeps coming.
#TD2# Sherdog scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. O Brian throws Sherdog to one side and escapes! O Brian misses with a takedown attempt - Sherdog sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Sherdog darts in looking for a takedown but O Brian gets double underhooks and turns Sherdog into the cage. Emmanuel Sherdog has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jean O Brian is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. O Brian tries to close the distance and clinch but Sherdog swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jean O Brian. Well I reckon that's a shut out for O Brian, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
