#R1# Melendez connects with a body shot that sends Hendricks's belly button to the back. Kenneth Melendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Melendez punishes Hendricks's body with a nice straight punch. Hendricks shoots in for a takedown but Melendez shows good takedown defense. Hendricks walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Melendez connects with a single shot there.#CUT2#It looks like Merlin Hendricks has been cut.#TD# Hendricks feints and as Melendez raises his hands in defense, Hendricks changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Hendricks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Melendez swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Melendez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Hendricks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Melendez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hendricks is controlling him. Melendez keeping moving, preventing Hendricks from controlling successfully. #T1# Hendricks slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Melendez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hendricks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hendricks advances to mount. Melendez is squirming around, avoiding Hendricks's attempts to control the action. #SUB# Hendricks is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Melendez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
#SUB# Hendricks quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Hendricks but it's paid off an Melendez is forced to tap! Nice work by Hendricks.
