Good tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Volkov manages to circle out of the way.#CL2# Volkov clinches up with Good and pushes him back against the cage. Volkov wants to break the clinch but can't.

Volkov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Good sprawls well. Good wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Volkov gets slowly back to his feet. Good appears to be looking for a counter takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Volkov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Good dodges the punch combination from Volkov.

Volkov now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Good stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Good wants it to stay on the feet. Volkov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Good as he jumps to the side. Corbin Good has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergei Volkov. Volkov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Volkov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown #TD# so Good counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Good seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. #T2# Good working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Volkov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Good engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Good lands a couple of digs. Volkov should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.#T3# Volkov looking for a sweep. Not yet Volkov, not yet. Good is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Good stops Volkov from standing up. Volkov trying to control the position.
#REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Volkov has his takedown stuffed#TD# and Good decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Volkov's guard. Good passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Volkov is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Good jumps into side control! Good is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. #T4# Good seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Volkov for as long as he can get away with. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Volkov struggling a bit here. A lull in the action here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Volkov is trying to control Good's posture but Good avoids it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Corbin Good dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!#R2# Volkov shoots in looking for a takedown. Good tries to sprawl out of it but Volkov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Good manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Good misses with the combination.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Volkov tries to clinch up but Good circles away and keeps his distance. Good slaps away a takedown attempt from Volkov, before circling back to the center of the mat. Horrible takedown attempt by Good or perhaps it was just good defense by Volkov, which made it look bad. #T1# Volkov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Good tries to avoid it but Volkov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Good to the ground. Good escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Corbin Good has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergei Volkov. Good fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Volkov manages to avoid it. Volkov shapes to counter with a head kick.#CL2# Volkov has Good up against the cage in a clinch.

He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. #T2# Good slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Good has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Volkov trying to control the position.

Volkov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Good wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. You can see the frustration on Volkov's face as Good controls the position. Volkov is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Good is controlling him well. Good remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Volkov tries to get back to half guard but can't.#T4# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Good lands an elbow. Volkov seems a little lost for a moment, as Good dominates the positioning. Volkov is looking to regain half guard here but Good keeps moving and retains side control. Volkov tries to control but Good manages to take his back. Volkov wants to control his opponent's hands but Good gets his hands free. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Good.

#SUB# Volkov wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Good's closed guard. He's half up but Good has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Good pivots and extends the arm, Volkov falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Good! Well done that man!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Corbin Good! A determined Corbin Good didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it! |
