#R1# Mays cracks Yamasaki with an open hand slap. Mays has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Yamasaki gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mays counters with a lovely straight right hand! Yamasaki doesn't succeed with the takedown letting Mays counter with a right hand. Mays stalks Yamasaki and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Yamasaki's face. Yamasaki staggers backwards, shaken. Yamasaki throws a lazy uppercut
and Mays counters with a nice uppercut. Mays listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Yamasaki misses with a takedown attempt and Mays counters with a straight right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kazu Yamasaki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mays avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Yamasaki. Yamasaki lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Yamasaki remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. #R1##TD# Yamasaki shoots in and gets a takedown into Picard's guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Yamasaki's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Yamasaki scoring with punches to the head and body. Picard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yamasaki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Yamasaki lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Yamasaki missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Yamasaki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Yamasaki working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Picard's head. Yamasaki landing some decent shots from guard. Yamasaki prevents Picard from getting back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Yamasaki controls from within his opponent's guard. Yamasaki scoring with punches to the head and body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yamasaki postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Picard wants to get back to his feet but Yamasaki is in a dominant position and won't allow it. #ES2# Picard manages to escape and get back to his feet.
