#R1# Nxumza has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Nxumza there as he acknowledges the shot. Nice cross by OBrien. OBrien slaps away a takedown attempt from Nxumza, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nxumza goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Nxumza misses with a jab, cross combination.
OBrien is looking to counter the offense by Nxumza and move into the clinch. OBrien moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Nxumza takes a shot to the body in his stride.
OBrien scores with a jab to the jaw. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nxumza misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nxumza takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Nxumza fails in his attempt to clinch. A combination from Nxumza does no damage. OBrien throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Nxumza looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? OBrien is fending him off so far but Nxumza persists. Nope, OBrien circles away and we're back to standing. OBrien is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Nxumza. OBrien lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. OBrien slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Nxumza is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Nxumza takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. OBrien takes one to the side of the head.
OBrien throws a good cross that connects.
#ROC#Nxumza is rocked!#T1##CL# OBrien clinches. Nxumza is still on wobbly legs! Can OBrien finish him? OBrien unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Nxumza! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but OBrien is unloading with more strikes now! Nxumza drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lochlain OBrien! A relieved looking Lochlain OBrien thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
