Mccoy misses with a body shot.
Watts misses with a wild combination.
Mccoy fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Watts swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A right-left combo lands from Watts.
Watts takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Watts's coach down at Wanis Combat Club was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Watts's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Watts tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The fighters circle momentarily. Watts darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Mccoy tries to clinch
and Watts counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mccoy connects with a good right hand that stumbles Watts. Watts circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Watts connects with a looping right hand.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mccoy. Watts does a little dance to reset his feet.
Watts dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Watts ducks under a wild hook from Mccoy.
Watts stuns Mccoy with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Watts gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Watts throws the left hand but Mccoy avoids the punch easily.
Mccoy lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Watts works Mccoy's body with a nice hook.
Mccoy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd cheers as Watts lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mccoy doesn't seem phased though.
Mccoy looks to land a right hand but Watts moved out of range.
Mccoy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Watts throws a sloppy head kick and Mccoy moves out of range easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mccoy looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Watts closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Mccoy moves out of range of the body kick from Watts.
Watts avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Mccoy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A little jabbing left from Watts on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Watts!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Mccoy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Watts sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Oh Mccoy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mccoy gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Mccoy tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Watts is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Mccoy buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Mccoy!! Mccoy is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Watts throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). King Watts!
King Watts seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website. |

Watts throws a combination. Grey tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Grey looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Watts throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Watts lands a jab.
The fighters circle momentarily. Grey darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Grey misses with a looping right.
A big left from Grey misses.
Grey takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Watts closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.#CL2#
Grey darts in and clinches Watts up against the cage.
Grey throws an elbow that misses.
Grey is trying to force a seperation but Watts has the dominant position.#BC2#
Grey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Grey swings widly with a right hand
and Watts counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Grey is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Grey looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Grey takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.#ROC#Grey is rocked!
Grey looks to throw the jab but Watts is out of range.
Grey is still on wobbly legs! Can Watts finish him?
Grey tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Grey seems to have recovered his senses.
Grey needs to keep his hands up - Watts had a free shot at his head there.
Grey looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.#T1#
Grey will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Watts moves away from the strike by Grey.
Grey throws a hook but Watts avoids it easily.
Watts swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Watts jabs at Grey's body.
King Grey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grey misses with a low kick as Watts jumps back.
Grey misses with an uppercut.
Watts scores with a nice head shot.
Grey shoots in and drives through. Watts sprawls well.
Grey shoots for a double leg takedown but Watts sprawls well. He's pushed Grey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Watts lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Grey has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Grey and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Nice sprawl there from Watts as Grey shoots in.
King Watts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of King Grey.
Grey tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Watts is able to avoid easily.
Grey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Watts sprawls well. Watts wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Grey gets slowly back to his feet.
A punch lands to the side of Grey 's head but he takes it in his stride.
King Watts is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Watts dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Grey. That did some damage!
Grey closes this distance looking for a takedown but Watts circles away.
Watts scores with a jab to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Watts, as that shot connected.
Grey misses with a double jab.
Grey jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Watts feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Greys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Watts sizes up Grey with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Watts fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Grey to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Grey looks to clinch but Watts throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Grey taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). King Watts! |
