#R1##TD2# Nunez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Clay was covering up waiting for the punch and Nunez finishes the takedown easily into guard. Nunez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Nunez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Nunez's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Clay tries to land a sweep but no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nunez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Nunez works a leg free and moves into half guard. #T1##SUB2# Nunez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Clay is just riding it out for now. Nunez eventually gives up the hold. Nice strikes from Nunez there. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Nunez scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Nunez working Clay over with strikes. He's simply no match for Nunez on the ground. Clay tries to roll over but Nunez keeps him under control. Clay tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Nunez has advanced to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#T4# Clay tries to reverse the position but Nunez maintains control. Nunez lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Clay hang on? Nunez working the ground and pound effectively.
Nunez lands a couple of good shots and Clay has given up his back, trying to escape the position!#SUB2# Nunez is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Clay defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. This has been an exciting period of action! Nunez is riding his opponent, not letting Clay buck him off. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Clay lands a nice uppercut. Nunez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Clay is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Clay tries to throw a body punch but Nunez avoids it by throwing Clay back against the cage. #TD# Clay manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Nunez is pushing down on Clay's leg trying to pass to half guard.
